Depending on the truck, and how handy you are, there may be other options as well.
My truck (2003 Chevy Silverado Crew Cab Dually) was built with the "camper wiring" option - basically, there's an extra set of wires for a 7-way plug bundled up at the front left corner of the bed (in between the bed and cab, right above the frame rail).
I was able to run that wire bundle back to the left rear corner of the bed along the frame, and installed a extra 7-way in that corner.

Works great for the 5er or the gooseneck, and still have the original one if I need to pull a conventional trailer.

Can't remember what the option code (RPO) is, but if you have a GM truck, might be worth looking for that wire bundle
