Wouldn't the easiest way to add a second QD fitting be to remove the current one, buy another just like it, add a 1/2" TEE where it was, install the old one on a 1" nipple at the end of the TEE, add a 2" nipple at the center of the TEE, on that nipple install a 1/2" elbow, on the end of the elbow add a 2" nipple and on that nipple add the other QD fitting? That way they would be about 2" apart. If you wanted them slightly further apart, just add a longer nipple at the center of the TEE. Be sure to use black iron pipe, not regular galvanized pipe.
