We always travel with the water pump turned off. A long, long time ago, we had some cargo shift while towing and rupture a cold water line (back when they were 3/8" copper flex tubing) and with the water pump on, we filled the trailer with every last drop of fresh water that was in the tank. We discovered it when we got to our destination, opened the door and water came "rolling out the door"... So, now we always turn the water pump off when towing AND when we leave the trailer/campsite....

The "simple solution to splashing water in the toilet bowl while towing" is just to step on the flush pedal after turning off the water pump. That will empty the bowl and without pressure, the cavity in the bowl won't refill, so the bowl stays empty until you turn the pump back on or connnect to city water.
