I agree with the above 2 posts. Take it back in. Sure looks like a bowed/broken stud...and they DO put some sorry stuff in those wall. I was in the SMs office one day visiting about issues they encountered on warranty repairs. He reached behind him in a corner and pulled out what had been a stud; it was so bowed and twisted it was unbelievable. He said they had to remove it from a wall because not a single attachment hit the stud due to the warpage and twists.
