We took the kids to Vallecito about 20-24 years ago. Daughter caught a fine trout where the creek dumps into the lake. Had a crowd cheering her. I rode a horse with a pack string up near Popes nose. So saddle sore. LOL
Used to elk hunt just west of Williams Creek Reservoir.
I'm mostly looking for altitude to beat Houston heat.
Those pulls around Chama/Chromo were a strain for 1982 F250 300 six cylinder with a cabover and towing a utility trailer. Pretty good strain on a 1987 Class C with a 460 as well.
I'm a sentimental old fool and miss my old hunting grounds.
On further examination the KOA next to the brewery sounds pretty good.
Anything about Vallecito in particular change your mind about it? Vallecito Resort specifically. Blue Spruce was booked.
