I occasionally tow a gooseneck trailer and in Michigan, chains are required. Mine "rattled" so I threaded them into bicycle inner tubes. That stopped the rattling, but they still "clunk" if dropped or if they're stretched across something in the bed. Most of the noise was stopped with the inner tubes.
