The 2 ideas I have are based on the table top being broken, but not the legs. If those are broken, disregard my ideas.

1) If you want a table with a laminate top like I’m assuming your original was -go to a cabinet maker and have them make you a new top, possibly with the base layer being plywood instead of particle board/ MDF.

2) If you don’t mind a wood-topped table, this is what we did in our S&B house when I wanted a bigger dining room table, but couldn’t afford a nice one yet. I had a finish carpenter friend use a piece of maple plywood (the outer, top layer was nice maple, all other layers were still just plywood layers). He put an edge of solid maple on it to “frame” the table top and finish the edge of the plywood. I stained and finished it myself and used our old legs with new longer horizontal skirt boards under the top. We used that table for many years while I saved up for my “nice” dining room table. Of course, a camper table doesn’t need the skirt boards, just the finished plywood top. The plywood would definitely be stronger than the original top also.

Just make sure with either one that the finished thickness of the table top is very close to the same as the original so as not to have a funny lump in the middle when it’s a bed.
