Same with my trailer. If (or is it when) a tire explodes at 70MPH, it's going to be a "revealing of events and destruction"... Who knows whether a thin plastic sheet can withstand a "slapping tire tread" or even if the tire tread will stay on the carcass to cause damage. About all any of us can do is try to weatherproof the wheelwells to protect against water intrusion and "hope for the best when it comes to tire explosions".....
