John, so far I have not whacked my head on the cabinet door as I move back and forth to check the awning, but I have whacked myself a couple times on the head by running into the outside kitchen door when its open. Its just high enough to not see if your looking down, but low enough to catch you in the forehead.

Never thought about moving the glass doors, certainly something to consider.

The kitchen island is great for extra storage, but when the slides are in its impassable to get from the front to the rear. Good thing there is a 2nd door!
