I currently have a Cougar FW with Max turn and tow with a short bed Ford. When I purchased the hitch a got the slider for piece of mind at the time. Most of the time I never use the slide, but I have needed it for some camp grounds where I have had a dip or incline backing in. It may not seem like 14 inches is a lot but it's nice to know you have it if needed.
