grumpbygregg, cut it 29" long and it should be just right. I used four 3/4 inch screws and I also bolted it to the 1 X 2 with a small bolt/nut, (see picture). I figured bolting it to the 1 X 2 would take some stress off the 3/4 X 3/4 upright. I hope that this makes sense.
