You might want to check out the Wen generators. We have the 56380i which is a 3800 watt inverter and have been very happy with it. It's quiet and reliable. We were without power for 3 days during the Texas freeze in February, and the generator ran non-stop except for refueling in temps down to 0 and didn't miss a lick. Downside is the runtime is only 4-8 hours depending on load. Wen seems to make a good product that is less expensive than a lot of the others. You can also buy them online direct from Wen.
