We had a set up like that on a race car trailer only it was part of the tongue on the trailer. We towed all over the West coast for years. Never had any issues with it.

Thanks for the info. Took me a minute to figure out the pump. It's a plunger rather than a lever. The bracket doesn't show any signs of failing but I'll keep an eye on it.
