I had the same issue last year. No wet spot under the trailer, but the pump kept cycling on and off and the fresh water tank kept filling.
I replaced the pump and that took care of both problems..

Instead of buying a new fitting, why don’t you get a longer pipe to extend the connection closer to the side of the trailer. That’s what I did and it works good.
