you should have a basic cut out on the bottom...
you should have a basic cut out on the bottom floor drivers side for a gen. a gen prep is just sheet metal box that they put in with the transfer switch. nothing else. well at least that's what mine...

FYI check all the fuses for the converter...
FYI check all the fuses for the converter internal and external, the converter can show you a voltage charge but put out no actual amperage and that is almost always a blown fuse in the converter......
