There should be sheet metal behind the luan. The key is to get some support from the existing slide structure and the tube at the top of the wall.

I suggest, loosening the cables, then adding a 1/8' inch thick plate that rests on the side vertical slide extrusion. Make the plate large enough to anchor it over a large area and to the tube running along the wall at the ceiling.

Use a 1/16" stubby drill bit and explore the wall to see where there is metal to attach to.

Note in my pictures the plate on top of the black side vertical extrusions and the plate going to the ceiling with screws at the top.

Hey Sir. I have a 2018 Cougar that has done this, bracket pulled off the wall. There is no plywood block or 'base' of any kind, my bracket was (note I said WAS) mounted straight to the wall. Out of 'warranty' of course, I have camping trip coming up, I don't want to cancel because this is sitting at repair shop.

I want to do this, but where to start? I have the manual, but all it says for 'pulley bracket loose or off' is replace or repair as needed. I am thinking I will need to completely relieve the tension that's on the cables first?

mine actually appears as if they just mounted this thing to the luan, it's too low to be attached to the top tubing across the slide, and too far in to be attached to the framing on the side. the tech at my dealer just said 'buy a bigger screw' but these are already 1/4" sheet metal screws, and no one local to me has what I'd need unless I go with a 5/16" lag bolt from the hardware store......

can you shoot me a message with any advice please?

    Sorry for the slow response.

Mine was also 3/8 plywood but I used 1/4 aluminum since it allowed the cables to better align with the pulleys.

I attached the plate to the wall then the pulleys to the plate/wall.

    Hope your mod goes smoothly.

    Hello,
I had my slide pulley assembly rip off the wall, I had posted yesterday about what had happened with pictures. While searching, I found your post. Mine was mounted on a piece of 3/8" plywood block with a 1/4" panel shim at the base of the block. I like to look of your repair / mod. May I ask what the previous base was, and did you attach the assembly to the base before attaching the plate to the wall or did you attach the assembly to the plate and wall together. Any info would be awesome. Thanks in advance. Dan
