I'm buying a 5th wheel with a GVW of 15,500. My truck is rated to pull a 16,000 5er. I'm wondering if the 16k hitch is enough or is there an argument for going with a larger hitch, say 18 or 20k? I have no intention of ever buying a larger 5th wheel than this one (I say that now), but even if I did, I'd need a bigger truck anyway. Any thoughts pro or con on the larger hitch?

I personally would go a little bigger, but that's me. I like to know I have plenty of head room.

I second the motion for a somewhat heavier hitch. Something in the 18-20K range would be good.

Go with more as previously stated. We have a Big Sky 3625RE which weighs around 13.8k. Our dealer put in a Pull rite super 5th 20k. Added bedroom is a good thing.
