I have a 2013 Cougar high country 321res. Great unit and I have no complaints so far other than I'm having problems with the remote. Everything worked fine when we did the walk through at the dealer before I picked it up. I pulled it home 150 miles and now the flashlight on the end of the remote doesn't work and the remote will no longer turn on the docking lights.

The docking lights turn on by the switch inside the unit so they do work and they did turn on by the remote before I brought it home. Dealer is no help, basically told me to use the switch inside the unit and be happy.

Any one have any ideas as to what might be going on with the remote.

I tried to search the forum for someone else having a similar issue and didn't find anything so I figured I'd start a thread.

Any help is greatly appreciated!
Andrew

The same thing happened to me only on a 2012 res327 so I am not 100% it will work for you. There is a panel close by the battery hook up in the front compartment. On this panel there is a reset button that you press and the remote should start working again. I know the instruction seem pretty vague but when you get in there and start looking around you will see what I am talking about.

Could it be the battery in the remote is dead? If nothing else it should at least work the flashlight part if the battery was good.

Everything else the remote does works fine. Only the docking lights and built in flashlight.

I'll take a look for a reset button and see if that helps. It has to be something simple as the remote worked before I brought it home and now it doesn't. A reset button sounds like it just might do the trick.

I'll update with what I find out.

No clue what's wrong. I can't find a reset button or anything else wrong.

Kinda sucks to have a brand new unit and some features already don't work....

Okay Andrew010 I have some good news and some bad news. For some reason I am unable to get attachments to work correctly so I need to figure that out. But I was able to upload pictures into my album. You can find this under the Community icon at the top header at the top of the page click on community and scoll down to pictures and albums. Find my album and click on it. In there you find a picture of the relay control panel that shows me pionting to the reset button. Its black in color but it should be there. Press this button for approximately 5 seconds then wait 10 seconds and try the remote it should be able to remotly operate everything now. Good luck. If you want better pictures E-Mail me at [email protected] and I will be happy to help you out. Take care and get out there and make some dreams happen.

Here's the link to all the Lippert manuals, etc. on Lippert's website.

Your particular panel will be on one or more of the docs and they all show exactly where the reset button is for each type.

Maybe I can't find a reset button because I haven't found that panel. Looking at the pics from the link posted above, I haven't found anything that looks like that.

Anyone have any idea where I might look to find that panel?

I really do appreciate all the help from everyone!

Andrew010,
On my Rv, a 2012 Cougar it's located in the front facing cargo compartment upper right side above the battery box. Just follow the instructions in above reply. I had to reprogram mind because all the controls were wrong. Take you a pen & paper with so that you can write down which each location controls. None of my wires were labeled so I had to redo the programming a couple times to get it right. Hope this helps & best of luck.

Found the reset button and pressed it several times with no luck in fixing the problem.

Must be a faulty remote??

Follow the link in post #9 from Steve. Save or download it so you can take it to the RV a follow the steps. Read it couple times & follow the steps one by one. There are several buttons you must push in sequence to make it all work.

Followed the directions to the letter. Repeated several times with no changes.

Looking like you might have a warranty claim with this one. Sorry for your problem's with it. Hope your dealer can turn it around for you in little down time.

Purchasing dealer pretty much said tough cookie. They don't seem interested in trying to fix it.

They're answer was - Everything worked when it left, you must have done something to cause the problem.

There's another Keystone dealer (doesn't sell Cougar though) close by and I'm going to see if they will work with me to get this fixed under warranty. I would hope this would be under warranty at least. Not sure if a dealer that doesn't sell Cougar would be able to work on a Cougar or not. It's still a keystone product but not sure that matters.

I haven't had much luck with the purchasing dealer from the point I signed the paperwork so I'm not surprised at the lack of help from them. So much for service after the sale huh. Won't be doing any business with them in the future.

Contact Keystone Customer Service. Ask them to recommend a dealer that will service your RV under warranty. Keystone needs to know this dealership is not working with you to resolve warranty problems. As the selling dealership, they have a responsibility to honor your warranty and to work with you to make sure you're satisfied. If they'er not doing this, Keystone needs to know. Also, to help other members avoid the problems you're facing, if you want to identify the dealership, feel free to post the name and location here. If nothing else, it may help others avoid the same problems "after signing on the dotted line"

I'm rather not name names at this point.

I did get my problem fixed though. I contacted another dealer that was fairy close and was able to get the remote switched out under warranty. I did have to program the remote myself but it wasn't hard to do. Very simple and only took a few mins and voila, everything works as it should now.

Hopefully no new problems arise on our first trip out!

Thanks again for everyone's input.

Good to hear it's fixed & hats off to the nonselling dealer for taking care of you! Gives me a peace of mind that the priority network that we got with the RV just might pay off one day. Happy camping!
