I am looking to add slide toppers to our Alpine 3500RE. My concern is the large living room slide which is right next to the awning. Is there enough room for the slide topper to fit without hitting the support arm of the awning? Thanks.

Turbopilot51 -

We had slide awnings on our Alpine, and had no problems between the awning and slide awning. However, we did order ours as a factory option.

I will say, in the north Texas and Oklahoma wind, the slide awnings did "pop". I got the inflatable awning tubes (aka, Air Wedge), but actually a swimming pool air raft would do, to put under the awnings. I would then throw a thick nylon rope (found in garage) with loops at each end over the awning and connect the loops with a bungee cord. The kept the awning tubes in place and gently held the awning down. If good weather was predicted, didn't bother with all that.

M last 5th wheel had the awning go over the slide I really miss that. With the gap between the awning and the slide you always get wet when it's raining. Whatever I get next will have an awnung that completely covers the door

After visiting the dealer today, they agreed the curbside slide topper can be modified to fit. They will modify the end of the topper next to the awning support arm. Looks like I will get the slide toppers after all. "bouncey:

I found this old thread because I had the same question for my 3600RS. Turbopilot51, you would happen to have a photo of the "modification" would you? Like you said, between the awning over the door and a slide topper, it sure doesn't seem like there would be clearance.

Just picked up our 3600 yesterday and the slide toppers were suppose to be installed before the PDI. Walked up to the trailer and said where are the slide toppers and the guy looked at us like "Your supposed to have toppers?". I really wonder about these RV dealers and their service departments. Found out they had to order them and I'll take her back next week for the install.
