For all you seasoned RV owners....We have only had our RV about 6 months, so this is our first winter. Although we live in South Louisiana, it still gets cold. We have built a garage with a permanent plug in for the Raptor...
1.) We have a thermostat that has Electric Heat...should we set it on low/auto and allow it to run?

2.) Should/can we leave the refrigerator on all the time, instead of just turning it off.

There's probably other questions I need to ask...just can't think of them right now. ;)

Thanks
Corrie

If you are garaged and living in South LA I wouldn't worry about any heat until you know your going to get a hard freeze. The refrigerator I would not leave on. Wipe it out reakky good and use the blue door props to hold the doors open when not using it. If you don't have the props just prop the doors open. The longer it stays on the more likely you are to have a problem such as condensation rusting through a cooling tube or your flow exhaust fan burning out.

Thanks Jim! My DH and I have been back and forth on these issues...finally he said to ask on the forum.

I lived in Alexandria/Pineville for 25 years and stored my RV's outside. All I ever did was drain the tanks, use compressed air to blow out the water lines and pour a cup of antifreeze in each of the drain traps. We never had an issue. When it was really REALLY cold (down to 20) I'd turn on the heat strip in the air conditioner. We always turned our refrigerator off if we weren't using it, left the door open and we never had an issue.

Hope you're enjoying the "cool" weather way down there..... :)

Let me know if you need help plowing a path to it thru the snow And I'll stop by with one of my trucks and a couple of guys with shovels.
