mislabeled flush valves on holding tank

I own a Cougar High Country 24RLS and I think the holding tank valves are mislabeled. Can any tell me when looking at the valves from left to right what they should be? My tank seems to read 3/4 full all the time and I am not sure of the valve to pull to drain.:(

No idea if mine (Laredo 245RL) is the same as yours, mine were not labeled at all, but ... "black is back" on mine.

If you have a clear elbow or a 5 gallon bucket, you could always pull one handle and dump into a bucket to see what comes out. Regarding the 3/4 full reading, that's pretty common to almost universal. The holding tank sensors are notorious for getting gunk on them and always showing some level, even when empty.

A clear hose fitting will tell You real fast what tank is what.And the little light for telling the amount in a tank is junk as the above post said had a lot of trailers all the same not to reliabale...Bushman:D

A clear hose fitting is the best bet if you can't look under your trailer and determine which tank is directly under the toilet. That will almost always be your black tank. If you can see the plumbing from your tanks, and know where your toilet is in reference to each, it's pretty easy to guess which is which.

I would urge not to use a 5 gallon bucket and pull a handle with a 3/4 full tank. Yes, you'll most likely be able to get the valve closed again, but in doing so, you stand a real good chance of jamming some paper or solid material in the rubber gasket and causing a "drip drip drip" kind of leak. That will set you up for a nasty suprise the next time you go to set up and remove the sewer connection cover to install your dump hose. The general rule is that once the black tank valve is open, don't close it until the tank is empty and flushed. That way you eliminate most of the possibility of messing up your dump valve with solid waste.

It's nice to have a clear fitting, if for no other reason than to watch for how clean the effluent coming out of the black tank is during dumping and flushing. Visually seeing the discharge get "clearer" is a great way to judge what's left in the tank.

I stopped by the dealer where I bought it and looked at another unit that was in for service, Service writer told me they had same complaint on the trailer that I looked at as I did.

I contacted Keystone and they sent an e-mail stating that the flush valves on the trailer front to back and I quote "Grey, Black, Grey" that means that my trailer and the one in the shop were both labeled wrong.

To confirm I looked at the piping closer this morning and the front is a small drain, center is 3" and the back is small drain.

Problem solved. Looks like Keystone labeler is dyslexic.
