9.8 average on the last trip through Mid America this summer. 18.9 on the MPG indicator right now, and that's mostly around town with some interstate travel recently. Never (seldom) drive over 70 and always tow under 65.

2011 Dodge Ram 5.7 1500 towing a Sprinter 266RBS

Not towing 18MPG HWY, 14.5MPG City, (I got 21.5 out of it all highway once but I really babied it on that trip just to see)

Towing I average 10.3MPG at an Avg speed of 60 Miles. I can pull 11.4 out of it if I do not try to keep my speed on any hills and know it will drop into the 9s if I keep 60 miles on all hills.

One interesting note and it was too early to make a claim i my avg up top, I just added a set of Michelin MS x/2 tires E rated. My gas mileage on the last trip improved without the trailer in tow to 20MPG. I did not pay much attention to my driving but I really don't think I was soft on it but am going to pay more attention on the next trip. The sad part is I did 1000KM trip with the camper and I paid no attention at all to the fuel mileage or really even what I was putting in at the pump and it was my wife who noticed the Dodge computer fuel mileage reading which was reading lower and she asked if something was wrong.

These are actual reads, the computer lies. Solo: 16-19 around town 20-24 hwy. ... Towing: All on the same 1250mi. trip... total trip low of 12mpg (head winds and in a hurry that year) and a high of 16.8mpg (two days of rain with tail winds kept my speed way down) I find I get better mpg without cruise so I can anticipate upcoming hills. My biggest enemy with mileage seems to be headwinds and the weight of my right shoe. .....

'12 Silverado Crew Cab - 6.2L gas.

Just measured on trip last weekend with less-than optimal trailer tire pressure (admittedly bad, I know).

Towing wet, with ~40% stop and go traffic - 8.1 MPG
Towing dry, with ~40% stop and go traffic - 8.5 MPG
Not towing (city - downtown Baltimore commute daily) - 12.5 MPG
Not towing (hwy - measured over 20+ miles of steady cruising) - 19.1 MPG

In all cases, except the daily commute the bed is loaded with gear and a full toolbox plus the family of four.

These are better MPG values than I got in the older 5.3L Suburban by about 1 MPG in all measured areas. Except highway, only once was I ever able to get 18 MPG. Usually it was closer to 14-15 MPG highway.

I've got a lifted LB CC 2wd '01 Duramax with 285 tires. With the cruise set at 68-70 I get an honest 22mpg (checked with corrected odometer/first click fuel shut off and distance verified by GPS). I just added a +50hp tow/economy tune and many say that this very likely will increase a mileage another mpg or so. Towing, I'm not sure on the mileage there but will check the next time we head out as I have the new to us 5er now!

Put the Prius in the back of the ford and double your mileage. http://www.keystonerv.org/forums/picture.php?albumid=251&pictureid=1106

Taking it easy at 95Km/hr up to 32 miles per Imperial gallon. Towing usually about 16 -20 miles per Imperial gallon. Imperial gallon is 160 fluid ounces. U.S gallon is 128 ounces. 5.9 Cummins, six speed cold air box,chip and modified exhaust.

"Towing usually about 16-20 miles per Imperial gallon". According to my math (which is almost always wrong) that would work out to roughly 13 - 16 miles per US gallon when towing. If you are getting that kind of mileage when towing, consider yourself lucky or else you are spending the bulk of your towing time in Saskatchewan. ;)

Howdy All;

Just what the Dr. ordered..... Metric distance mixed with Imperial fluids,
to figure US Standard distance equivilant.....

I understand them all just not in the same sentence ... :eek:
So what you are basicly saying is;
While traveling at about 55 MPH everytime you burn 4 Imp. gal's. You've
burned 5 US Gal. and your avg. MPG is what Festus2 stated... Roughly 20%
less then what you get using .... OR you get approx. 25.92 to 32.4 KPIG...
"bouncey: :D :confused:

hankaye -
Best that you forget about this concept of converting Imperial gallons to US gallons, and everything metric - including kilometers and litres. At our age (and yours) it is just too much for our brains to comprehend. There are far bigger things in life to worry about and fuss over. Miles per gallon. Kilometres per litre. Does it really matter? Drive from A to B. Fill it up. Pay the man. Be happy.

You said it best - as you always do. It is indeed, "a puzzlement".

Cheers and all that stuff.

OK, I'll play. I have a 2008 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport double cab longbed 4WD pulling a Passport 238MLWE. It's only the first weekend out but it looks like about 10-11 towing. I'm always pretty steady at 18-19 unloaded. With mileage like that, I'm trying to remember what the advantage of the 4 liter V6 is over a half ton with a V8. Maybe a Tundra or F150 Eco Boost down the road.

I just traded my 2004 Chevy CC 4X4 duramax for a 2011 Ford F-250 4X4 CC with a 6.7 diesel.

With the duramax I got 9 to 10 mpg towing and 17 normal driving.

With the Ford I get 11.5 to 12.5 towing and 21.5 normal driving.
