I did a quick search and didn't see any threads on what everyone is using to tow there campers. Let's see what you tow with.

This is my '96 F350 Power Stroke. I've had it for over 12 years and has 202K miles on it.

Great idea but you've set the bar way too high for the rest of us!
How can we possibly post any pics of our TV's now that we've seen yours? Can't you delete the two pics and post something a little less intimidating? How about throwing a bit of dirt or sprinkling some dust on your Ford to make it look a bit more "ordinary".
Sorry, but you scared me off. :o

Almost at a loss for words but how about...."WOW"!

That Ford is super clean! Very nice.

Here is mine with all my other stuff. The Equinox is the newest an 07, everything else is at least 10 years old.

Here it is with my old 5th wheel, which is only 500lbs lighter than my new 32 foot Passport.

Just a plain ole 2002 6.0/4L80E/4.10 truck 325 HP 360 FT/LBS of torque. It has tune and exhaust.
Tows 7500 lbs just fine. I just rolled 29,200 miles

We have two tow vehicles, sort of....

This little hot rod drags our boat with us when we go to any CG that has a lake where we can use said boat:

Hey Barney, don't feel to bad. We have a 96 850 volvo(over 200,000), 04 volvo xc90 (over 130,000) and 2000 Ford F-450 drw crew cab with over 176,000. We will probably have another volvo in the near future ( go a 16 year old son) can't take any chances with that precious cargo (lol). My husband has worked on volvos for 27 years. I love mine. http://i45.tinypic.com/2zsnok0.jpg http://i46.tinypic.com/o0xb0i.jpg. It's an extended stay site at Tiki Tom's, on Galveston Bay. We pulled the Outback from the dealer straight to the site a year ago and have not moved it since..., love the site. Sunsets are awesome and the fishing is great.

Hey Barney, It is a 5 cyclinder turbo with asian warner transmission (not a T-6with a GM trannie) the T-6 are the ones with problem transmissions. Plus my husband is a Volvo Master Tech. I did have to replace the bevel gear but it was under the extended warrenty. My husband doesn't let me go cross country like I would like to LOL ala through the field a time or two. We live out in the country in the middle of my Daddy's 26 acres so it gets tempting when and if we get snow, he say NO NO. Plus I am one of those people who can not stand for anything broken on my car:banghead:"bouncey:. I got that from my Dad lol.

I have not weighed it yet, but I'm thinking 3600. I take no more with me than I took in my 8' popup. I truly wanted an R Pod, but my wife like this layout. I won't say "I don't know it's there" but it towed well in PAs Endless Mountains.

SAGEBEL: That's one heck of a flagpole you've got on your trailer. Where'd you get it and how is it attached?

It is 3 pieces of aluminum tubing each 10' long that fit inside one another. I bought the tubing from the local welding supply store. I welded a piece of steal tubing to my spare tire carrier that the bottom pole would fit into. I also have a removeable pulley at the top so that I can take the flag down at night without having to deal with the long pole. I drilled a bunch of holes in the pole so that it is adjustable. I am currently looking for a suitable light so that I don't have to take the flag down every night although it is proving to be a good lesson for the kids when we fold the flag every night.

HEHE Technically, Pontiac did make trucks... GM Truck and Coach was located on the back side of Pontiac Motors just off Square Lake Road and Opdyke until the restructuring took place. Originally, GM trucks were assembled adjacent to the Pontiac assembly plant on Joslyn, which was Pontiac Motors Headquarters. Both my brothers-in-law worked at T&C.

When I bought my GMC K5 (2 door "big Blazer") in 1975, we went home for Christmas to visit family. My BIL was telling me he helped build it and it was just like the Chevy Blazer version. He took me on a plant tour and there was a "split" in the assembly line where Chevy bowties were put on some and GMC logo was put on others. Then the assembly line "rejoined" and the rest of the truck was built.....

Bushman, That's not really a Power Wagon is it. I don't remember seeing a oil burner Power Wagon and no fender flares either. It's still a good looking truck though.
You can get the Power Wagon fender flares from Dodge.

Pontiac doesn't even make a car anymore. Pontiac was killed when GM became Government Motors.

You are correct. Additionally, GM stopped producing Oldsmobile on April 29, 2004, Saturn's last car was made on September 30, 2009 and GM produced the last Hummer on May 24, 2010.

Incidentally, GM stopped producing Pontiacs on November 25, 2009, it was a white "fleet" G6, and today, if you ride down Joslyn, E Beverly or E Montcalm, you can see the shuttered plant with upper windows broken out, overhead doors crushed in by the snow and vandals, The lots, where once acres of pavement was filled with parked cars and trucks waiting for shipment, is now all cracked, filled with weeds and essentially in ruins. My wife's mother and father lived on Wesbrook Ave, just across the street from the main entrance of Pontiac. What was once a proud and productive business, completely gone, but for many, never to be forgotten.

We love to go there before the schools let out for the summer and after they start back in the fall. Not that we don't like kids but we have all year to camp so we just let the families have the spots in the summer.

Power-wise, its got more than enough; we sit at about 70% of capacity when loaded). When windy it could use a little more meat on its bones, and gets wagged around some. We're adding the Reese dual cam sway controllers before we tow it again.
We're also unhappy with the ride quality of the Timbren SES, so I'll try a set of Air lift 1000 in-coil air bags instead.
It's our first pickup, and we're very pleased with it.

I have the two point and love it. I don't get any say, but with a long wheel base 3/4 ton, I would expect very little with the 2 way. Does the 4 way help with porposing?

Thanks very much for the suggestion, but I already forked out $700 for the Reese hitch which will accept the dual cams... I'm sort of committed ;-)
Perhaps we could have a done a little more research beforehand, but never having towed before, there is only so much available up here and Reese seemed like a premium brand.
Thanks again; I just love this community!

One "unique" bit of information about the F150, from 2010 and newer (Not sure about the 2009) there is no transmission dipstick, thus no transmission fill port. Changing the transmission fluid on these trucks is not as straight forward as on vehicles with a fill port. There is a method described in the service manual, but don't expect to just go to Autozone and buy 8 quarts of ATF, a filter and gasket and think you're done.

I can't say much about other brands, but apparently Ford is of the "mindset" with the newer F150's that "backyard maintenance" on the transmission at least, is not something they want us to do. There is most likely a reason why they made the decision to delete the fill tube and dipstick, but for the life of me, I can't figure out why. Any F150 owners have any ideas?

Our 2005 Explorer (4.6L V8) has the same set-up. Transmission service at the dealer is done with a power "bowser" that extracts the old fluid, flushes the trans & filter, and then adds the new fluid. I don't like this. Funny, old fashioned ideas about changing the filter instead of back flushing the contaminates through the entire trans. 137,00 mi with our fingers crossed:)

Not an F150, but the same effort by Ford to force us to service our car at the dealer.

While we were at this stop filling up, a trucker looked over at the DW and I and said "You can't get a rig much longer than that! Only thing bigger is a semi and it's trailer"!
He is not kidding! I believe total length for the truck and the trailer together is close to 57 feet.

I did a quick search and didn't see any threads on what everyone is using to tow there campers. Let's see what you tow with.

This is my '96 F350 Power Stroke. I've had it for over 12 years and has 202K miles on it.

Hijacking threads happens from time-to-time so, after a brief exchange about boats, their engines and weights, it would be appreciated if we could get back to the original topic - Tow Vehicles. (ty)

I might suggest that, next time, you might want to consider exchanging PM's to discuss boats.

Not that it's going to be an "apples to apples" comparison, but I've got the 5.4 L flexfuel engine in my 2010 F150 and towing the fifthwheel (7000 lbs) at aboout 60-65 MPH on level ground with minimal winds, I'm getting between 9.8 and 11.5. Usually, closer to 10.8 most tanks....

If the Ecoboost is supposed to be more "fuel efficient" there's got to be something going on with your truck.... Hopefully the dealer can figure out what it is and get you back up to where most other Ecoboost's are geting !!!!!

We love to go there before the schools let out for the summer and after they start back in the fall. Not that we don't like kids but we have all year to camp so we just let the families have the spots in the summer.

Our TV and Toy Hauler!

2009 F250 6.4L King Ranch with Firestone air bags complete with B&W companion hitch.

Towing a 2013 Fuzion 375 the day we bought it in Danville, Va. :D

2197

We were really concerned that although our F250 6.4L could pull our 2013 Fuzion 375 (dry weight 14,160 lbs), that we were really pushing/testing our luck when towing.

So, today in the snow here in Va, we pulled the trigger and are now the proud owners of a "New" (leftover) 2012 F350 Crew Cab King Ranch Dually with a 6.7L Turbo Diesel. Now, just have to get the B&W hitch mounted in the beast. Can't wait to test the two together.

All of these super duty trucks, of all makes and models, have come a loooong way in the last 15 years. More trouble with the emissions stuff, but I will take this truck 3:1 over the 7.3s that I had. Not that they were bad, never turned a wrench on either of them. Exhaust style braking and integrated brake controller are awesome!!!!!

Wow that's great I am looking to tow the same camper and was wondering how your F250 did with the 322QBS. I have the same exact trailer but a 2012 and am looking for a truck but dont want to shell out the big dollars for the 350 dually.

I love trucks, just something about them that says "hook something to the back of me and let's go"

Dont know but it doesnt look to heavy. My old 1500 denali had a tow rating of 10k with 410 gears so maybe its setup the same way?

We have the 328QBS, with the bunks in the rear instead of the front. According to the 2012 brochure I have, ours only weighs 200 pounds less than the 322.

You should have no problem with an F-250, IMHO. Ours handles and pulls really well. If I read my truck's label correctly, we are well within the limits. If you still don't feel sure about it, you could consider an F-350 w/single rear wheels.
