Have Springdale 266RL, 2009. Trailer has the thin aluminum, (is it really aluminum???), lower, "diamond plate," rock shield on the front of the trailer. How do you all clean that and maintain it? Meaning, brand/type cleaner, etc. I'm sure at some point it will pick up oil/asphalt bits, etc., so I'm planning ahead and this is our first ever TT.

I also wonder about type of wax for alum. skin of trailer body.

Thank you,
Dennis

We have a 2010 Passport with the Diamond Plate also.
It is actually plastic...not heavy! About cleaning, just about anything will do!
The good thing is, if it takes a beating, it is cheap to replace!"bouncey:

We have a Keystone hornet 33rdls and it has aluminum siding and diamond plate. My husband uses Maguiars Ultimate wash and wax. It is made for cars but does a good job on the camper. On the roof we just use Dawn (orignal the blue one) on the roof, the others have citrus and that is a no no on rubber. Hope that helps, Good luck with the new travel trailer and make many camping memories. Safe travels"bouncey:

Thanks that helps. Plastic.....figures.

I already use Maguires products, so that fits. Probably brand name tar/bug removers when needed. Maguires wax for trailer skin. Good tip on the Dawn, we use that in the house already.

I'm new here so just getting settled on the forum. Just filled in a little under profile...almost forgot it.

Thanks, Dennis

Whatever material my diamond plate is, it's conductive. And it's clouding up. Is it just a thin foil over plastic?

Back to the original question, how to clean and polish it? Mine used to be shiny.

My last camper had it and it wash washed just like the rest of the camper. Treated it no different. It was never dirtier than anything else.

I just picked up some Mother's polish and it's definitely aluminum. The area I tested it on came out pretty shiny. Now I need to order some elbow grease.

Plastic? I never looked that close at ours. I'll double check this weekend. That's really cutting corners IMHO.:banghead:
