2002 Chevy 2500 HD 6.0 4L80E 28,000 miles.
Removed the stock cooler, replaced with an aftermarket Hayden plate cooler.
Changed the Fluid out to Dexron VI.

At any rate installed an Autometer tranny temp guage. Took it out unloaded and the temp never went above 140. Ambient air temp was about 60 to 65.
Is that too cold? I have always heard about 100 over ambient when just crusing around. Won't know temps towing until Thursday.
Suggestions? Ideas?

That is not too cold, but may make it too cold in freezing temps.

It will probably run about 165 in lockup with trailer on hiway

It really does not get below 40 here. We are lucky in that respect. The rain is killing me right now. :(

I talked to my tranny guy. He said his Allison runs right there and 140 for a
4L80E is just right.
