Purchasing Fifth Wheel Hitch

Hey all, Im purchasing a 5th Wheel Hitch very soon and it will be my first time hitching up this way also, have pulled a trailer before but not a fifth wheel. Anyways what Im looking for is a good hitch and a rookie friendly one. The guy who I spoke too recomended a Reese hitch that doesnt need rails in the bed. I thought Id better research and seek help before I went ahead with it. Im gonna be pulling a 2012 Keystone Alpine 3700 RE with a 2012 GMC Sierra Denali Dually.

Reese Signature Series doesn't leave rails in the bed when you remove the hitch.

Do you have a short bed truck (6'6" bed) if so I would consider swigging to a sliding hitch or a superglide if your budget allows

I got a 8' bed to make it easier to haul. Budget isnt a issue but Ive been told I wont need a sliding one with the 8' box.

Pull one pin on either side. Flip 4 levers. Lift hitch right up.

In the second pic you can see the "puck" that's left after hitch removal.

I REALLY like the B&W Turnover Ball system with the Companion 5th wheel hitch. Leaves you a completely open bed when removed. Not even 4 "pucks". Just a plugged 4" hole in the center of the bed. Also comes with the bonus of being a gooseneck hitch if you ever need one. It's what I've used for the past 6 years or so, and will be my hitch of choice for probably the remainder of my life.

The patriot fifth wheel hitch by B&W is an excellent choice also.

You may want to look at getting a "bed saver" for whatever hitch you get, it catches the pin (and trailer) if you mess up hitching the trailer.

I went with the Reese Elite 25k but the GM shop guy said its illegal to have anything on the hitch and didnt know what a bedsaver was.

I've owned a Reese 16K slider and a Superglide 18K. The Reese makes more noise and chucks more than the Superglide.

Bed saver not really needed IMO. I connect pigtail then set my reese to auto latch, back in watch the Handel as I back in with the brake set and wheels chocked. Once it latches put in forward gear with trailer brakes set and wheels chocked, and pull to be sure it is latched. I then get out flip the handel lock and connect the break away cable.
I have seen the results of not being SURE that the pin is secure!!!!
It was an F350 Dually rails bent way down, and center of bed popped up!!!
