We just purchased a new 2013 Cougar High Country 231res trailer, and since the ceiling is high, I am unable to reach any of the lights or vents to use them.
I have really bad knees, so a step ladder is not of any use. Any suggestions?
Thanks

As far as the vents go you can purchase replacement black knobs with the type that accept a hand crank to operate. Real easy swap out and only requires the use of a screwdriver. A pair of knobs and crank will probably run you around 30.00.

1. Get a piece of 1" PVC pipe and modify or adapt one end to fit the knob or crank on the vents.

2. Get a some kind of reach extender like this:
http://www.amazon.com/Norpro-10200-Long-Reach-Grabber/dp/B000CRBI98

3. The ceiling lights that do not have wall switches can be turned on and off via a rocker switch on them. With a little bit of ingenuity, you should be able to find a pole or mop handle that will reach the switch. Then it is a very simple matter of pushing the rocker with the pole.

I like steve' idea with the pvc pipe. if you can get some one to modify the knobs. and do the step ladder for you. cut two slots 180 degrees apart in the knobs. and with the pvc pipe cut it so it has matching prongs that will fit into the slots. the other end use 2 90 degree elbows to form a crank. i had a similar situation. i am very round..ok fat! and i could not bend over and reach the lever that swictched fuel tanks on the floor of an airplane that iflew often. so i fashion up a simmilar tool like i described and it worked great. steves tool looks good but you may not have the gripping power you'll need. i wish you the best.:D

First welcome to the forum. You will need some assistance to get it set up but the guys are giving you some good ideas that are not that hard to set up. Good luck getting it worked out and do return and show us your solutions when you have them.

When we married 43 years ago, we both had one "consideration" to bring to the table. I don't do dishes and my DW (who also is vertically challenged) doesn't dust anything above the 5' level.....

Hey JRTJH
Be careful for what you say. At the 43 year married mark our rolls changed. I became the main cook and the wife does the dishes, and I have to admit that I feel guilty and pitch in from time to time. Now we are at 45 years in a couple weeks and I got some bad news from the VA yesterday, I have shrunk an entire inch in height. I hope the DW doesn't decide to turn me in for a newer taller model!:thewave:
Have a great weekend camping!

My DW also suffers from TLTTG (too low to the ground) syndrome:D
She uses an extended wiener roasting fork - $4 at CW - works okay - I am going to drill holes in the vent knobs so she can apply a little more torque to the vents:)

Oh Thats a good idea. My problem is my wife is short also but if get her a extended roasting fork she will be poking me to get up and get the lights or vent for her. lol Maybe some 10inch platform shoes will do the trick.
