refridgerator question

I have searched and searched here but can't find this. I thought I had read here that you shouldn't keep the fridge on if the inside of your unit is hot, that it hurts the fridge and something else.

The reason is after we parked this thing and put it on my 120 electric of the house, the fridge isn't cooling like it did on propane. I mean to where it is only 55. Not much is in the fridge so I turned it off so I wouldn't ruin it. When we take it out in a couple of weeks I will do a real test, but the freezer freezes but the lower part just isn't doing the job. No smell, no yellow. The unit probably gets to 100 in it.

100 degrees is a pretty high temperature differential. Some fridges have more cooling power on propane than on electric (the one in my old popup did). You may want to find out what the temperature is inside the back of the fridge space and try to increase the airflow.

Have you checked to see if the temp. adjustment is slide all the way up on the fins in the fridge. We also find that leaving the cabinet above the fridge open helps. (It gets really hot in there) JM2¢, Hank

there is the temp adjustment on the front of the fridge, where would I look to see on the fins? I will check tonight to see how hot it is behind the fridge.

Hey azlee, open the fridge door and look on the back wall. You should see aluminum fins at the top of the inside. There should be a wire and clip on one of the fins to the right side. By moving it up or down will change the temp. Also if you plugged into the house you might want to think about turning the a/c unit like 90 degrees.

I found the thing on the fins, it is about half way up and is attached pretty firmly. This is suppose to be all the way up on the fin?

You should have a decal on the inside of the frig that shows you a gradient temperature scale. At the top of this scale is the coldest temperature and at the bottom this will show the warmest. I constantly move this slide adjustment up or down to keep the frig cold in the camper according to ambient air temperature.
I would also recommend purchasing a temperature gage that will hang in the frig for you. I try to keep the inside temperature at 40F by moving the slide up and down as needed. I also purchased a low cost battery operated fan from Camping World to move air around inside the frig this helps to keep everything cool also.

thanks, I will go out and look. I can run the cooler plugged into my house? I don't have 30 or 50 amp electric yet.

Also, my unit won't cool if not at least near level as the fluid in the cooling mechanism fails to circulate and pools in the coils behind the fridge. Make sure that your rig is pretty level or the fridge won't cool no matter what you try.

It is pretty level, but maybe not level enough. hmmmm. I looked for the label but didn't see any. I will look again this weekend because I really don't know what I am looking for. lol"bouncey:
