The dinette seat in my trailer (Passport 238ML) is next to the door, and as such has no wall to brace up the seat back. Since this is a Passport series, the construction is rather lightweight, and I was unhappy with how much the seat back flexed when in use. I rooted around through my collection of stuff and found a Simpson Strong-tie L bracket that fit perfectly. I added some #8x1/2" wood screws to secure it without punching through the other side, and now my seat back is secure as can be. Also, you can't see the brace until you remove the cushions, and it doesn't interfere with the storage cover.

Funny, I just repaired the seat back on my 238ml because someone leaned back too much. I'll be adding this bracket next! Thanks

Do you have any photos? I just bought a gently used 2013 238ML and have the exact same problem. Also the staples and nails are popping on the back side.

Did you have any luck with this? Did it help? Thank you.

You probably won't get any responses from those two prior members, but possibly other more current members may have answers to the question you pose. Good Luck !!!

I think I recall WNY Bullet doing that mod to his booth dinette.

I added a piece of 3/4" X 3/4" angle iron to reinforce the back of our dinette seat. I copied another member of this forum. We have had no problems since the installation. See post #8. http://www.keystoneforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9394
