We have a 2002 Sprinter 28BHS and can't get the slideout to work. Does anyone know if there is a manual way to open it. Having hard time finding a replacement gear box for it. Dewald went out of business

On our '08 Cougar 5th, you can open the slide manually. Access to the motor and drive is located beneath the RV near the entrance door and about 2 ft in towards the center. On the coroplast underbelly, there is a small cut-out about 8 in sq. If you cut the straps holding the flap closed, there is a 3/4" nut near the slide motor. If you keep turning this nut which is attached to the drive, it will put the slide out VERY slowly. Before you start cranking, disconnect the wires from the motor or you could cause some damage to the motor.
The access to your manual slide out may be in a different location but if you follow the slide track(s), it should be located near the end of one of the tracks. It may be accessed on the inside on some models.
