I have sent out three PM in the last week but they don't show up in the sent messages folder. Anyone having a similar problem?

One was a reply to a PM I received, and two were not. The PM I received shows that I responded by the different icon but I don't see the sent messages in the sent folder.

Joe:
I have sent a number of PM's recently and have not experienced that problem. Have you created another folder for your sent messages? If so, they may be found there. If you have not created another separate folder for them , the sent and received messages are designated as "Items" rather than "Messages".

Hi Joe,

I know I have to check off the save to sent box in additional options in order to save a pm I am sending. They then show up in sent folder.

Also in your user CP under edit options, check off save copy of sent messages. It will then do it automatically.

Joe, the next time you send a message, scroll down near the bottom of the page. There is a box with additional options. The second option is "save a copy of message in sent items" You need to check that box to save your sent message. If you don't check it every message, you won't save anything you send.

Thanks to all for the help. I think I see where I went wrong.

I am going to add this. Pm'ing is wonderful to exchange personal information.

It does nothing for the forum itself. To exchange information by PM does not help others that may need it. One PM exchange of information could help many. Why PM it if it could help others learn and grow? Lot's could be kept in the forum and help others.

I PM'd to someone who was interested in buying something I have for sale and hadn't heard back. Sent a second PM and then noticed that it didn't look like they were going thru. Since it was shipping info and pricing I didn't think it would benefit others.

Joe, that is a good example of using a PM and when negotiating prices or making inquiries about an item that is for sale or one that is wanted. These kinds of exchanges are best carried out with a PM as it is a dialogue between two people only.
Sometimes, a member would like to ask a particular question about a specific model of RV and might send the inquiry to a member who has exactly the same unit. Perhaps a member wants to find out some information about a specific campsite that someone on the forum has visited. He might send a PM to that member. If a member feels that the information he is looking for is of little or no interest to the members, he might choose to use the PM rather than a post.
Whether or not to post or to send a PM is a matter of personal preference and judgement. If the person thinks that the topic or question are of no interest to anyone, then the PM will, for that person, be the better choice. It's not an easy call and everyone does what he/she thinks is the best way to go and hopefully, as you indicated, that some, but not all people, will benefit from a post.
(But I digress from the OP's question about "Sent Messages"........ sorry.)
