Open Neutral blown microwave

Well, after all was done, we discovered our issue was an open neutral in the park power pedestal caused by a broken internal wire. Lost our micro and a day's time running around from place to place for repair info, etc.

The RV park tech told us at 10:30pm (night prior) that it was definately NOT a pedestal 50 amp issue. Well, it was. It gave him a false reading when checked. We had already powered down to the 30amp side and had everything except microwave running just fine.

A qualified independent tech, known well by this park, came out at my request and bingo, he found the issue in the 50amp power box. The park's electrician came out immediately and did a complete pedestal rewire on the 50 amp side.
Park also agreed to pay for my rv tech call AND a comparable replacement microwave.

As soon as we can replace our micro we will be back to 100%. The RV park has been very positive and anxious to make this right. This park is owned and operated by native american Indians. It is part of a casino; hotel; RV resort in Fort McDowell, AZ.

If you ever get to the west AZ area; stop at this park if you can get a reservation. It is great and offers unrestricted mountain views from all premium sites. We are here for another 6 weeks. It's called "Eagle View"... Eventually I will be posting a complete review on RVparksreview.com

I’m glad to hear you were able to track down the problem and that the park made things right. I’m still envious of your retirement journey. 20 more years for me. By then, I hope my infatuation with RVs continues and has blossomed into fifth-wheel love.

That's great Mel you found the exact problem, I worry about the same thing happening to me. I have been thinking about buying a protector for just that reason. Also it's good that they are taking care of your expenses you are out, and that it didn't do anymore damage to your trailer. Have a great time there and Happy Campin...........Ron

Was the Microwave really bad? I had mine sort of go bad, the platform would just slowly rotate and nothing on the keypad would work.

As it turned out all I had to do was reset the microwave by powering it on and depressing one of the keypad buttons, of course I can't remember which one now:o

Glad to hear all is good and you found the problem. That is great the campground is making things right with you. I have had a microwave blow the fuse, if you remove the cover look around and there should be a fuse in the open and only cost 5.00 bucks to fix. Worth a try anyway.

I looked on U Tube for fuse replacements as a possibility. When I pulled it from the area where housed, the rear cover on this cheap High Pointe requires tools I do not even have. I called a recommended "microwave" tech and he would not even look at it. Never heard of the brand. RV Park said don't do anything to it, just replace it.

They are so busy here in AZ, peak season, CW won't deal with it. This place is crazy with snowbirds. I am talking thousands. Now the Diamondbacks spring training is starting here and everyone is sold out.

Sooooo, tomorrow I am off on my journey to several RV dealers here in Mesa, AZ and taking the unit with me. I am going to try and go with a Dometic or comparable even if I have to kick in the $$ difference for a better unit. The unit I have lists for $98 via internet with added $50 shipping to AZ. I figure for $200 or so I should be able to find something locally. If more, I will pay the difference if need be. Then mama will be happy and we know what happens then :bdance:

Life is good. going to be 81 degrees here by Thursday. Hope I have enough sunscreen....may need to buy more :cool3:

I would go to a hardware store and buy a security bit screw driver to open up the microwave. There has to be a fuse in there. Its a UL code.

BE VERY CAREFULL WORKING ON A MICROWAVE. I KNOW A MAN THAT WAS ELECTROCUTED AND DIED WORKING ON ONE:(

BoosTT...... It appears as though the OP's microwave problem has already been solved so there doesn't seem to be a need for him to open it up, find and replace a fuse.
