Dish Tailgater connection

I have a new 2021 29 DFS. Tonight I decided to test my Dish Tailgater but plugging it into the coax port on the back of the camper. I unplugged the coax from the television and plugged it into the receiver and then ran a HDMI cable to the tv. No luck. Any suggestions?

I don't know of anybody that has had real good luck with camper sat. wiring. They use the cheapest splinters in the cable runs. I added a connection to the exterior wall, connect tailgater to it then to Wally to tv

Many folks seem to have issues with using the supplied coax connector. I have an old trailer and have installed a bulkhead pass through water proof coax connector right outside my entertainment center and connect an 18" coax on the inside to my Wally. Generally, I set my Playmaker antenna on my slide and it is about 10' from the outside coax connector. I use RG6. I have in the past used the tripod when the southern sky was blocked by trees and carry lengths of coax up to 75'. Dish claims it won't work with coax that long but it does work.

Why you can't get your outside coax may be that the internal connections are loose or not connected, If you are using something like one of the modern convenience electronic systems, you may not be using it correctly or it may not connect correctly. To test your antenna, hook it up with the dish pointing south by orienting the handle to the north. Then run a piece of coax through a window or slide and test your systm.

As suggested, install an outside connector. This is the one I use:

When coax is connected directly to the receiver it works perfectly.

If your trailer was prepared for satellite, then there should be a separate connection labeled satellite prep.
Otherwise you will need to install your own using RG6 cable.

My Dish tailgater would not work using the OEM wiring in my previous RV (2017 Laredo 330L) or my current rig. I would run the coax directly to the black box thru a nearby window. A few months ago I ran a 6’ section of coax behind the TV and out thru the slide out wiring loom. I hookup the tailgater to the coax pigtail below the slide out. Works great. By the way, my OEM wiring works fine for using the antenna or hooking up to campground cable.

We also had the same problem after the cable 'tech' came out and set up cable a few years ago at a temporary campsite. Lord have mercy, he made a mess of things. Now with the Tailgater we run both RG6 cables (we have two) through the very corner of the slideouts closest to the TV's.

Are you running two "Wally" receivers with one satellite antenna?
If so what brand satellite are you using?

Two Wally's and two satellite antennas. We got the second antenna on Ebay for $85.00 because we were tired of not being able to watch two different channels at the same time (Yes, for those of you who are going to jump up and yell "That's not so!!" on the same satellite. We took it out of the box, cut new coax, and have never looked back. It works like a charm. We do like actual cable better, but can't get it in this RV park.

OK I'll confess to what I did. Bought a Dish King antennae and 2 Wallys from my RV repair shop. Owner said they are easy to get hooked up. BS I spent a couple days and couldn't get anything. I'm pre wired for the den, bedroom, and outside. None worked. Just happened to see a local ad for a mobile RV tech. He came out and couldn't get it working either. I suggested he may want the Klein signal chaser. He came back a few days later with the Klein and found an open wire. Ran new cable, got it all working. So we left for Iowa and the first stop I couldn't get it working. Tried again later, nothing. Called Dish service. No call back. Got home and called them again with a semi nasty message. Two days later they called. We got it working. I took notes this time!

I was having issues with KeyTV and my Pathway X2 a few months back I finally bypassed the KeyTV altogether for Satellite I picked up this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B017P8HASY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and drilled a hole near where the Wally is kept. Problem solved. If all you want is to be able to view your satellite in another room where there is a TV you can do what I did on our previous 5er. It worked great except we had to watch the same channel on both TVs. I am not one to lay in bed and watch TV so now we just do the local channels scan on the bedroom TV and when we go to to bed I might watch a few minutes of Hogan's Heroes or something like that on MeTV and I am falling out, The DW uses headphones and streams Hulu stuff from her tablet so it don't disturb me.

I have the King Tailgater Pro with 2 coax outputs but am only trying 1 connection to the trailer. I have the Klein tracer tool ordered to test the wiring. Not really a fan of drilling a hole in my new camper. If I find the wire open is this something that warranty would cover? If not what do you think the odds are that I could open the exterior jack port and the inside port and connect a new cable to it using a barrel connector and use it to pull a new run of coax?

Tailgater wouldn’t work on mine either. Coax works at RV parks. Satellite plug, nope. I have 200’ of coax and ran it through the door, to the decoder. I think it’s there for decorative purposes, only.

being a 2021 model, you have the Keystone KeyTV system.

Along with that come a few challenges.

#1 - the cable from the rear of the RV, you will need to plug into with RG6 cable, and connect to your satellite (Dish)/tailgater

#2 - the RG6 cable cannot exceed 25 feet (based upon the factory)

#3 - inside the RV, there will bean additional KeyTV receptacle, which again, plugs into your Wally receiver. Again, the cable must be short. The two (inside and outside should not exceed 25 feet)

#4 - on the exterior rear KeyTV panel, you should see a blue light indicating power to the system

If all these things are correct it should work. If not, take it back to where you purchased it, and have it fixed under warranty.

Take the KeyTV input box loose in your convenience center and check all the connections mine were all hand loose and tight them that may help.

The only problem we have had has been the trees. When we get a clear sky ours picks up good.

Good luck.. we used old TV system for years, our new one will not work. We have tried all the answers below and more... I finally wrote King Connect who makes the king quest 4100 dome that we have. They admitted there is a problem with domes and keytv. The keytv does not power up the dome to search for channels. If we run thru kitchen Window we are good. Going to dealership this week... there is a module in the Keytv box, checking it.... but guessing it is just the great Keytv... ugh..
