I am looking to get some feed back on how fast peolpe drive while towing their campers AND what the engine's RPMs are.

I tow my current camper at 65 mph with the tach reading about 2600 RPMs. I have a 3.73 gear ratio with 4 speed auto transmission. I'm pulling in third gear. When I hit a upgrade the transmission down shifts to second gear and the tach reads 4200 RPMs at 65 mph.

How about yours??

My sweet spot is 2500 RPMs, with 2000 RPMs being a quiet comfortable ride. At 60MPH in 4th gear, I’m in the low 2000 RPM range. Gear ratios don’t have *that* much to do with your sweet spot. If you can find a torque curve graph for your engine, that will probably reinforce what you already know.

1600 rpm @ 60mph in OD .... rarely use T/H ...... will run 65 under ideal conditions.

I tow my trailer between 60 and 65MPH, trailer tires are speed rated for 65 MPH. The Truck has a double OD in the transmission and 3:73 gears, I am running Michelin LT265/70R17 E121 tires. Tire size also is required for an RPM check.
In 6th gear the truck is around 1700RPM's and in 5ft gear the truck will be at 2000 RPM's. I will usually go to 5ft gear in the mountains to cool the EGT's down as the temp's will climb in 6 gear on 6 to 7% grade. I also watch my boost pressure and try to keep this under 30PSI when climbing.

I normally run at 60 - 65 mph in 5th gear and run about 2000 rpm and will drop into 4th gear for step grades. I'm running a 5 speed Allison trans and 3:73 gears with 31.5 tall tires.

I tend to run between 58 (1700 rpm in 5th) and 62 MPH (1600 rpm in 6th) it all depends on wind conditions and terrain.

My 2005 dodge 3500 CTD SRW QC 5.9 HO runs about 1900 to 2100 rpm's at 60to 65 mph. with 4.10 gear.

If I get above 2K rpm I am going faster that I should. Typically about 1800 at 65 mph. Problem is that it will go 80 with just 500 more RPM and not even be noticeable. Right up until your on the side of the road changing a blowout!

I get about 1,700 RPM @ 59-62 MPH which is about my cruising speed.

100kph (65mph), about 1,850RPM unless in the mountains with OD locked out, then she'll tach up to about 2,500RPM. We just love our noisy, stinky old diesel.

Cheers!
