What's the best toilet?

I've not found a Thetford yet that I like. We like the Dometic 310 (round bowl) others like the 320 (elongated bowl).

Dometic 320 tall. Had a Thetford and they are not designed for human anatomy (male at least)!

"Best toilet" & Thetford is an oxymoron!
Dometic, your choice of 310 or 320.

Is the 320 worth the extra money and weight?

When I replaced our Thetford with the Dometic 310, I didn’t notice any difference in weight between the two of them, but our Thetford also had the ceramic bowl, so were very similar. I did the replacement in 2013, and we full time, and the Dometic hasn’t needed anything done to it, including the flush seal. So, after all the hassles with the Thetford, the $200 spent on the Dometic back then was well worth it.

If you have a porcelain Thetford the weight difference is minimal so not a consideration IMO. If comparing a 310 vs 320 it boils down to round or elongated bowl. They both now come with wooden soft close lids. One other difference is the 320 has a "rim" around the outside upper edge and the water comes out from under it very much like some residential toilets. The 310 is "rimless" and the water comes out of outlets around the rim. I like the swirling action from the 310 BUT if you don't regulate the water pressure and it's too high that "swirl" will swirl right over the top of the bowl.

I just replaced Dometic 300 with a 310 2 days ago. Taking out the old toilet and installing the new one took less than an hour. I would have preferred the 320, but the clearance to the back wall did not meet the required dimensions.

Thanks, that is my plan to use the 310. Did you need a install kit or did you reuse the old hardware?

You did not ask me but IIRC the toilet comes with the flange bolts, caps and little rubber donut seal. I did mine about a year ago but I believe that is correct and Spade117 can confirm. Also when you have it pulled is a great time to put a cutoff valve in for the toilet, it can come in handy vs shutting down the entire trailer.

Yes, everything you need comes with it, assuming the flange plate attached to the floor is still in good condition.

Absolutely, as a man that was taught to sit to avoid splash, I like the 320 with elongated bowl.
