2009 passport 292bh- spongy floor

My floor between my bathroom and the stove is spongy right in the center of the floor. its solid toward the bathroom, but soft towards the stove. it seems like it is joined together in the middle of the floor, and one side is moving, but not the other side. I looked under the shower(thru access panel) and under the fridge and sink. no signs of water....Does anyone else have this problem, or ideas? it also seems to have a lil movement right as you come in thru the outside door, making a creaking noise around the entertainment center......

The floor of the Passport has very little support and is of a laminate construction (Luan+Foam+Luan). Ours is spongy in spots as well and its not from water damage its from the lack of support under the floor. We didn't seem to notice this when we purchased the trailer but we will pay attention the next time we buy. I have actually gone under ours and added some support in the spongy area.

Well thats good to know. i actually went with this camper because the Puma i was going to buy have very spongy floors. my passport didnt do this till about 6-8 months later. Did you order supports of just made your own? i will also do that, because the squaking drives me nuts.....besides that, i love my lil passport....Thanks alot

If you have ducted heat and the furnace is under the stove then this would explain for a spongy feel in that area. If you take a look at this thread http://www.keystonerv.org/forums/showthread.php?t=1493, I posted some pictures of a typical ducted heat floor assembly. I hope this will give you a little more insight to why the floor is a little soft. As for the creeking around the door that could be caused from the lack of adhesive or possibly a loose bolt that secures the floor to the outriggers on the frame.

Come to think of it ours wasn't spongy at first but became that way sometime later. I made and installed my own supports. I think one of the issues causing this is the laminated layers separate causing them to be weak. If they stayed glued together they would be strong. If there were more supports it may keep the layers from coming apart because of less flexing to begin with. I can't verify that the layers on ours have come apart but I believe this would cause the floor to be extra spongy.

Glued together you have a 1 inch thick floor but if they become loose you have a 1/4" layer then a 3/4"foam layer then another 1/4" layer all acting independently rather than 1 piece. Just my thoughts. Other than that one spongy spot we love the trailer.

Its ashame, keystone makes some really beautiful campers, but seems to skimp on the simple stuff-i.e. adheasive......My friends just bought a new keystone three months ago and four different windows are leaking because they werent properly sealed....But I guess its like that everywhere....Thats the story of our world now.....In my case, im just relieved that it isnt water damage....lol. Thanks for all of ya'lls input, it was very helpful.Think i'll go camping now.......
