I have a Hideout 2012. I want to attach a security camera at the upper left side of the RV. I'm thinking drilling holes for screws to hole for power cord is the way to go but want to verify that's a good idea.

Really don't want to drill holes but don't see another way.

Is it ok to do?

Thank you for reading my question.

KathyAnn,
On another thread addressing security I suggested a small solar light that I found at Harbor Freight on sale. I mounted 3 of these * to my trailer. One of the best modifications to date.

These lights need no batteries and go dim when the motion detector sensor is not activated (a good courtesy to neighbors in a campground). These lights might make a great addition to your security plans.

As for power to the camera, maybe roof mount it (to the roof/wall intersection for set screw grip into frame material) and use Enternabond tape around the camera base and to cover the cord that might be able to parallel a pipe or other roof fixture (vent, antenna, AC) for access to power. We have some folks on here that would know better than I do and could verify if my suggestion would work.
Good luck,
RMc

The refrigerator roof vent is a great place to route wiring from inside the trailer. You will need weather/UV resistant wiring

Can you better define "upper left side"? Is that upper left side of the entry side (curbside) or upper left side of the opposite side (road side), or upper left side of the front or back wall? What are you trying to capture with the camera, the front door? Another bit of info that might help... do you plan on removing the camera for travel? Do you know what camera you are considering yet? Also if you share what model number Hideout you have would help to find out what layout you have.

I have also been thinking of getting a standalone, battery operated security camera that just records to an SD card. I would mount it to the curbside roof corner to monitor the entry area. Removeable for travel.
Tagging along for any info on these types of cameras/reviews and how OPs project comes out.
