So driving down the road my outdoor kitchen door popped open( yes it was locked, noticed after that the locks were barely even catching) and door hit a tree ripping it off. 🤬🤬🤬 I wouldn't think it would be covered however father in law says it should bc the locks weren't properly installed. Anyone have any ideas?

It would help if you put your truck and trailer information in your signature. Anyone reading your post wouldn't know if you had the camper for 10 years or 10 days. If this was an issue you didn't "notice" until this happened then is this a new issue? I would get it back to the dealer and see what they have to say.

I'd check with the insurance company first. You probably have comprehensive coverage. Deductible is likely around $500.
Chance of getting a warranty claim after you hit a tree is pretty slim IMHO.
Manufacturers' warranty would cover the repairs to fix the locks if it were turned in for that reason.

That's what I was thinking as well. I'm getting in contact with the dealer hopefully tonight but it may be past hours already. I got the door back on and closed but barely.

It is there idk why it's not showing. It's a 2020 outback 340bh bought in July.

If you go to the top of the page there's a black bar with "User CP" on the left side. Click on that and then click on "edit profile". There you can add your info and a profile picture if you like.

Good luck, if you think this is a warranty issue. When I took delivery of my Montana High Country, and JUST drove it home, and pulled the bedroom slide out (very, very first time), there was a "crunch". A cabinet door popped open and the slide hit it, ripping the door off and doing some cosmetic damage to the slide. I called the dealership back and raised a little .... (fire water).... They told me ... Tough luck Chuck. It was my fault for not checking the slide out before extracting. They wouldn't even offer me new hinges to replace the bent up ones.

I figure the damage being covered under warranty is slim to primarily none. Adjust a lock under warranty is one thing - if it had been brought to their attention; repair/replace a door and damages due to hitting a tree is quite another. They have no idea if the lock was faulty or if you forgot to close the door. I'd be calling the insurance company.

Comprehensive is for damage while stationary. Collision is for a vehicle in motion.

Thou art hereby assigned as deputy and second in charge of the SIGNATURE POLICE! Thanks for taking the heavy burden off my back!

Thanks for the clarification. I hope the OP's deductible isn't too high or the damage too severe.

Thank you, neither is to bad. Looks like will just need the frame replaced and door (hopefully). There is just 1 or 2 little scratches on the body. New talking points or as dw says always a reminder to check it twice.

My bil did the same thing. He replaced the door with a sheet of plywood marine grade until the new door could be ordered.

The warranty does not cover damage. Read the "defect vs damage" explanation in the owner's manual. Additionally, "adjustments to doors, latches, slides, loose hardware, etc is only covered during the first 90 days of ownership.... I wouldn't expect that the dealer or Keystone is going to approve any repair, even to the "lock adjustment"....
