Evening all,
We just sold our previous and first 5th wheel on Friday and committed to buying our first toy hauler on Saturday. We are getting a 2006 Raptor 3712TS and will be pulling it with our Ram 2500 Diesel. We will be close to max but I think we will be ok. We just bought a 2020 Kawasaki Teryx 4LE to put in it back in June and after double towing it behind our 5th wheel on vacation decided that wasn't the way to go. It's just my wife, my 3 year old son, our dog and me.

Welcome to the forum. You may want to look at your tow vehicle capabilities vs the weight you've decided to put on it, especially since you have a family with you. A 3/4 ton truck isn't generally able to handle a 5th wheel with a gvw of approx. 16k lbs.

You say you are OK but have you scaled? If not, just figure a pin weight at 20% of gvw = 3200 lbs. Dry weight 12900 x .20 = 2580lbs.

With those in mind what is the payload/gvw on the stickers inside the driver door? I suspect you won't be "close" or "ok", you'll be substantially over anything your 3/4 should be towing.

Good morning and welcome to the forum.
That is a heck of a lot of trailer for that truck.
Good luck

I pulled my impact with 2500 13 Duramax . It was over loaded. I upgraded the tires, rims and added airbags it wasn’t legal but safer . With a few 1000 pounds in the garage will take couple 200 off the pin but your going to be way over the 25000 lbs Gross vehicle combined weight loaded.

I agree with the other posters. We had a 2008 Raptor 3712TS and I bought a DRW to pull it (found a great deal on an F450 DRW) - then traded the F450 for a newer F350 DRW. I would never have tried to pull it with my prior F250! I think your first trip through the Salt River Canyon, you will make the same decision...

Just FYI...

40' 3 axle fiver on a 3/4 ton truck? Close? No where near close. You will be so far over close won't even be in the picture.

Hey Azwater guy! Welcome to the forum. I want to pile on and remind you to look at the white/yellow sticker on your door frame and report back as to your payload number. You will quickly figure out that folks on this forum are vigilant in keeping folks from making potentially big safety mistakes. (See folks, I have quit using the term weight police)! :whistling: Example of sticker:

Usually when an idiot or unruly person gets transferred, it is to shuffle them to somewhere else and let somewhere else deal with this problem. I am TRYING TO BE GOOD! REALLY (well kinda). :whistling:

This place could be fun if we actually talked about camping sometimes... Wife is picking out our next RV park for a bit later this month. I hope she picks one with a golf course nearby as we are trying to get back into golf...

I hear ya George. Heading for Delaware Beach this weekend. Fortunately (for us, not for those in the Gulf) the current storm is hooking a right and not coming up here.

Thought NO was going to be the point where Sally made landfall but it now looks like Alabama is going to get the worst of it. Hope all the forum members from AL, MS and FL panhandle stay safe and keep your heads down!
