Zeppelin 04

Hey there, looking for assistance when it comes to our 04 zeppelin. Trying to figure out how to use the hot water and heater. We bought it private sale from someone who had never used it themselves. Ive got the manual but its not helpful. We ended up being seasonal this year and Ive just been using the bathhouses to shower but I must say its starting to get pretty chilly here in VT.

Hi and welcome to the forums and the rv life. There are lots of folks on here who will help you but you need to add some details. Pictures or model numbers will help a whole lot.

Open up your outside water heater compartment. There is a model label and I suspect you have a Suburban as the maker. Get the model off the label. The model will be SW6xxxx. There are essentially three types; one that is propane only, one that is propane AND electrical and one that has both propane and electric and a switch for the electric INSIDE the cabin. Once we know what water heater you have, more specific info will come.

Steps to get that water heater going are fairly simple. You first have to determine if the winterizing bypass valve is on or off. Once you determine water is flowing to the water heater tank, you check outside to ensure it is full of water by cracking the relief vale. Then you check to see that gas is flowing by making sure your furnace lights. If you have gas flowing, turn on your switch up where the tank gauges are located. A red light comes on and if you are quiet you can hear the unit light.

Now here is the fun part; if the unit has never been lit, there may be some maintenance that needs doing. The unit may not light. That can be handled IF the unit does NOT light. Then the electrical part as there MAY BE an electrical heating element to augment the gas. This is why I asked about the water heater model. Get that info and we can dive into more detailed steps especially how/what the bypass valve is all about.

An ‘04 zepplin may have a pilot light at the water heater, so I’m Hoping the O.P. Comes back with more details.
