I have a 2019 369BHS cougar .. why does the water pump make some much noise when operating,, is there a way to muffle the sound

It’s probably not the pump, but the lines banging against the cabinet and resonating throughout the trailer.

If you can locate the pump, have someone operate it as you grab lines and see if moving them changes things. I have used zip ties to secure water lines to other water lines, but there are other ways. Use the search for “noisy water pump” and get ready to read.

Hey chuckster I have located the pump and it’s the pump itself vibrating. Was thinking of unscrewing it and placing some kind of a padded cushion under it.. has anyone else experience this?

Lots of different posts explaining that procedure.

Water pumps (ShurFlo, Flojet, and others) all run very, very quiet. If you could take the pump out of the camper and run it, you'd barely be able to hear it run. I know, I've done this.

The problem is the vibration resonating through the pipes in your camper, vibrating magnifies as it goes through the pipes and the sound could be heard, sometimes in the opposite end of the camper.

In my fifth wheel, the water pump is located in the front of the camper. But the pipes vibrate in the bathroom and sound like the pump is actually under the shower. I never hear it run up front, only in the bathroom.

If you can isolate the pump from the water pipes, it would be very quiet. One of the best solutions I've seen was to add flexible rubber hose between the water pump outlet to the section of pipe that originally connected to the output side of the pump. The rubber based pipe absorbed the vibrations from the pump and never reached the hard PEX pipe.

Add a spongie cushion under the pump to isolate it from the floor and your's will be quiet also.

My 2020 Passport's water pump was extremely noisy... Like wake the dead noisy..I was going to have it checked this spring when I had it dewinterized... well, the tech at General RV did a poor job on the winterization and when they tried to put water thru it the pump was cracked as were a few of the pex lines... I posted a thread about that debacle...
Anyway... after the pump was replaced, the pump is very quiet.. Tech that put the new pump in said that the lines from the factory were all routed so that they were vibrating against either the floor or the wall or the framework surrounding it... also they installed a "better" pump according to the tech... not sure which brand... but it is so quiet that you hardly hear it running... it used to wake you up from a sound sleep as it was right there at the edge of the bed under the closet...
Not sure it helps but that's my story... :D
