We are considering purchasing a pre-owned 2004 Sprinter. Any advise would be appreciated. Seems like everything we look at is a couple thousand $$ over book??

If you really like the floor plan go for it. As for the price .... they can ask anything they want, but if they want to sell it they will come down considerably. Dealers will keep prices higher so they can give you a "Good Deal" on your trade in. No trade they will deal. Welcome to the forum, Hank And again ... make sure it is a floor plan you can live with or it is not worth any price.

Hi, and welcome to the forum. You must be looking on dealer lots, yes they ramp the price up a bit, offer them book and ask what kind of a warranty will they be giving for their over inflated price on a used trailer, the worst that can happen is for them to say NO. Most dealers will have a $6000 pad on used trailers so the line "I can't sell it for that" is meant to embarrass you, just make an offer and walk away after leaving your name and Phone number. If you do strike up a deal, make sure that you inspect the trailer good and have the dealer fix whatever is broke before you pay for it, if the trailer is being sold "as is", then anything that you find that doesn't work or is in poor condition would be reason enough to lower your offered price. Good luck and keep us posted, if you need an inspection form just let us know.

Thanks for the info.. We have been looking at SO MANY 5th wheels our heads are swimming. Vacuum sealed walls, enclosed under bellies, heated tanks, hydraulic slides/electric slides... Yikes.. Maybe we need to take a class... LOL
We are in Texas and are looking at both private sellers and dealers, Private sellers are consistantly over NADA. Must be our booming economy.
I think our 2 top choices are a Challenger and a Sprinter, it all a mater of the $$ now. Thanks again for your speedy replies..

Don't get caught up in the hype - either from the manufacturer or the dealer. Do your homework and when you finally do decide on a specific unit, check it over thoroughly and get anything that needs to be fixed done BEFORE it leaves the lot or offer less. You didn't mention what, if any, tow vehicle you have --- just wondering as I think Challenger is a Keystone line of 5th wheels while Sprinter comes in both options, 5th and trailer. Both have their advantages and disadvantages -- a matter of personal preference and what tow vehicle you have or plan on getting.
Different people have varying likes and dislikes when it comes to floorplans and you will get as many opinions as there are RV owners. It is what you like best that counts.
Welcome to our Forum and we hope to hear from you in the future.

We have a 2008 Ford F350 4X4 6.4L Diesel. We are looking at 5th wheels and seems to be most attracted to the Keystones. There are a good number of them to choose from in our area. We have found what we think is a good deal on a Sprinter and comparable deal on a Challenger but just not ready to commit.. Thanks for the warm welcome...!
