Smelled gas today near trailer and found a hose chewed through. (Mouse, Rat, or Squirrel)
Lesson learned today - Don't leave bottle stops open if not in use. I usually leave one closed, and one open while in use. Used the RV frig on the way home and forgot to isolate gas once I shut the trailer down.

I am now looking for idea on how to "rodent proof" the hose. I have seen a few idea but open to input if any one has a cheap effective method.

Short of putting something like split loom tubing over them I'm not sure on that part - I've never had that issue. The bigger concern is if they are there eating that LP line what ELSE are they doing to your trailer? I would be getting rid of them instead of trying to repair the damage they cause.

To add, good thing you found it before you decided to take another trip. Your going to have to replace that entire section of LP hose to do a proper repair, a splice with hose clamps isnt “right”.

New hose ordered for repair, and I will use some of that hard plastic split conduit to cover the entire length. It ain't squirrel proof, but hopefully it will not be as easy or tasty to chew. I have seen spring used also, but I'll try this first.

Porky pines love rubber brake lines and air lines so a propane hose might be a great dessert!!
