Apologies if this is found elsewhere, a keyword search was not productive.

Question. Is it normal for the water pump to turn on and off again every so often, as if it’s cycling or repressurizing the lines? I’ve checked for open faucets and cannot find any obvious sign of leaks.

Just wondering if this is normal. Thanks

No it’s not. Water pump will only activate when it senses a drop in line pressure.

Reasons include, water running somewhere, failing pressure switch or failing pump diaphragm.

If your POSITIVE you have bled ALL the air out of the entire system, and you don’t have a leak anywhere, I would start looking at the pump.

Do you have an in-line screen filter on the pump? Mine had some debris in the tank that caused the pump diaphragm not to seal and it would cycle for a second or two every few minutes. Cleared it out, installed the filter and no issues since. But given the age of your unit, any manufacturing debris should be long gone by now. As Chuck said, it could be a water leak or a pump diaphragm.

You said you checked faucets... have you checked your low point drain lines below the trailer? Mine was recently losing a little bit of water out of one of my fresh water drain line because I had lost the gasket from the screw-on cap and the caps won't seal without the gasket.

Since I couldn't find the gaskets in any stores, I replaced both my caps with this for easy draining of my lines as well.

I greatly appreciate the responses. Now that I know it’s not normal, I’ll check out the suggestions provided and see if I can find anything amiss before I tackle the pump... which should be under warranty I hope.

Thanks again!!

I recently had this symptom, and while many things can cause it, in my case the plastic check valve on the upper water heater line had a very slow leak. If I had not seen (sounds like bad grammar, lol) dried white dust on the linno floor it sat on I would not have found that leak. I would suggest you pressurize the system then wrap your hand around both the upper and lower hose connections on the back of the water tank. They should both be perfectly dry.

BTW, I also had a T-junction of PEX and flexible hose develop a small leak because the flexible hose is not a great fit for a PEX connector. Might as well feel up all the connections you can while you have the access panel to the water heater open.

Let us know what you find. It may help someone else with a similar problem.

I had a look-see around everything I could easily get access to. There's nothing showing any wetness or leaks of any kind. Check the outside shower... had to tighten the hose fitting onto the faucet, but that did not stop it from cycling.

I called the service department of the dealer I bought it from... their first words... oh, that's normal. Mine does it all the time.

Who you gonna believe?

Anyway, I have it booked in for them to fix it under warranty.

That’s funny...no it’s not. Make sure you test it before you take it home. It makes me mad sometimes at the “answers” some dealers give. I would be thinking about a different repair facility once the warranty is over.
