Any of you installed a reel for your power cords? Tossing the idea around for our fuzion.

Wrestling that 50' anaconda is getting old fast lol. If I know I'm not running ACS or major power I use a lighter gauge cord.

Not sure there's enough room between the skirt and frame.

No reel for our 25 foot 50 amp cord. I carry another 25 foot cord, if I need further length. I stow these in a basket with handles that makes it easy to move around and set it on the ground at an appropriate location to minimize the length of cord I need to pull out and connect to shore power supply and the rig.

Don't know about skirt and frame or if you want a power reel. I did not but I absolutely got tired of messing with that 50A cable every time we went to get it out or stow it. We bought a Morryde reel and installed it in the pass thru. Extremely easy install and SO, SO much better....and no more twisted cable conductors (bought a new one when I installed the reel).

sourdough.....nice idea!! What I would like to see is a 50 amp cord plug inside the inside the rig basement or separate side compartment with a built in cord reel OR a means to do that aftermarket.

I'm trying to avoid using the pass thru area. It's not overly huge on the 417. I've seen some of the powered ones behind the skirting.

If your thinking about mounting it between the Jwrap and the frame, you might want to reconsider. If the reel is electric, you’ll need to build a box to keep it out of the weather. If it’s a manual reel then I guess it doesn’t matter, but how do you intend to secure it? Once the shore cord is loaded onto the reel it will be heavy.

All good points. I think I'd get one of the boys to make an aluminum box with door, pretty much to match the tool box on the other side of the unit. It's gotta look pro after all. Securely mounting it to the frame should not be a problem. Even just another box to store the coiled cord would be better than nothing. Currently it goes up front with the propane tanks.

Our 5th wheel came OEM with the power reel for 50 AMP service. I think the cable is around 35'. The reel is not large enough for 50' of cable. It is a nice feature. Now the trailer is park and roofed, I have kicked around the idea of moving it to our little Laredo that has 50 amp service This would involve building a box for it on the rear bumper and getting a good 12V DC source to it. Kick kick - around around! One down side is you create another point in the reel brushes where you could loose a connection. Loosing neutral is not good. Both trailers have hard wired PI EMS units, with remotes. I would not want a power reel without a hard wired EMS.

If that's the case, 50' won't fit. And this cord is definitely 50'.
