Cook top slippery?

Hi all,
I have a slight problem and wonder if anyone has found this same problem and how they fixed it.
We have a Keystone Sprinter. 2018 FKSS (?).
The stove has a grate on the top and when you put pans or pots on it to cook, it’s so slippery they will slide off if you’re not careful. Hoping someone has this set up and has a fix for it. Dang, sorry their sideways!

This is probably not what you want to hear, but it looks like those grates are "porcelain coated". If so, the coating may be what's causing the problem. If it were me, I think I'd walk one of them "outside on the driveway" and turn it upside down and rub it on the concrete for a few minutes... Scratching the porcelain coating may give it enough 'bite" to stop the sliding...

A second thought: What kind of pans are you using? Some have a "stain resistant, easy to clean coating (similar to Teflon) on the outside as well as the inside. If that's the type of pan, then the "outer no-stick coating" might be your issue.

We have porcelain wire grates and pans never "slide" on them. We use "cheap steel pans with no coating on the outside"...

Funny you mention rubbing on concrete.
That was one of my thoughts, then my next thought is, isn’t there some kind of spray you could spray on the rails like you would on metal steps so not slippery? You would think there is something like that, plus needs to be heat resistant?

Keep in mind that heat resistant does not mean flame proof. Anything you spray on the grates will burn off and fill your camper with toxic fumes. I would either go the “scraping on the driveway route“ or just replace the grates to the newer style.

Good point Rob. The paint is recommended for indoor use on iron stoves and fireplace screens etc. OP might want to check the MSDS sheets just in case outgassing might be a problem.

Totally agree !!! My DW ordered one of those new "stovetop mats" that's custom cut to fit our stovetop. It's "advertised" as heat resistant to 550F. Well, it came UPS, she took it out of the package, put it under the grates around the burners. Looked "super great" nice and clean, no scratches visible: yada yada yada… Then she boiled a teapot of water, turned off the burner and that "heat resistant mat" was scorched, melted and looked like crap !!! Needless to say, I was smiling from ear to ear because I'd told her before she ordered it, "Honey, that's just a grill mat and you know how they don't last through one grilling before they're melted and we throw them away".....

Guess what: She took photos, demanded a refund and we're back to her complaining about the scratches around her burners.....

Long story, I know, but I'd guess "heat resistant paint" would last about as long as a "heat resistant stovetop mat".... Then add the toxic fumes from burning :nonono:

We have that same stove and never had an issue with pans sliding off, got to ask is the stove level?

Is the grate seated flat and snug in all the retaining holes?

Hey CT,
Yes, I’ve checked to make sure it’s level, and in the holes and firmly in place. The pots and pans move easily I should say. Got more than one pot on and if you bump another pot, they slide very easy.
