Hello,
I am familiar with what sealant to use on the roof, sides of camper, butyl putty, etc.
But, I am u aware of what kind of sealant this is on the underside. I looks very thick os I assume it doesn’t drip while setting up. It’s black in color. I want to get some to seal a couple of holes I had to drill.
Thanks for any help!

I’m not sure what that stuff is but I used Proflex in the same area on my camper.

I have often wondered myself. If you cut it, it’s like silicone. I bet the factories buy it in 55gal drums and use pneumatic guns to apply it.

All (or at least most) of the sealant on the bottom of the trailer is applied while the chassis is "wheels up" just after the coroplast is installed. Once the "bottom work" is finished, the trailer is turned over on its wheels, the tanks are installed, plumbing/electrical runs are done, heating ducts are laid in the spaces and the floor (usually wrapped in DARCO) is laid on top of the chassis and secured in a few places (so it won't move). Later, as the interior and exterior walls are installed, the remainder of the floor is secured to the outriggers, cross braces and frame rails.

Like Chuck mentioned, it looks like/cuts like a "clear, shiny silicone like" caulk.

As for what to use to reseal the area, nearly anything that bridges the existing putty area will have "clear margins to adhere" without any silicone issues.

Thanks for that info. It makes sense.
I added the second tube with wiring for an outlet in the slide. I wanted to seal it like the factory one.

Thank you, I actually use that already for sealing. It’s good stuff!

Ahh. I should have guessed you already use it. Agreed, it’s good stuff.

In the past I have used the Great Stuff expanding foam. They make one that is black and can be located at hardware stores or big box stores. May take a little hunting but it is in the same area. I have used it and finished product looks like the stuff from the factory.

Thanks! I was thinking of using pond foam. It’s black and made to direct water. Pond foam as in a backyard fish pond/waterfall.
