We purchased a 2017 Keystone Hideout 29BKS. it will be pulled by a Chevy Silverado 1500 with max trailering. Looking forward to new adventures this summer.

Cleaning the roof, ours is TPO, what is your favorite cleaner and conditioner for the roof?

thanks
Tom

Welcome to the forum! I use Dawn dish soap on the roof. I don’t use a conditioner but I do check and reseal any caulking that needs it with Dicor self leveling sealant.

Here is a video about what I do if you are interested.

Dawn dish soap but it does remove wax on the sides of the trailer as it flows off the roof. JMO

Used Simple Green & a soft bristle brush for lots of years with good results. Most recommend a mild soap for periodic cleaning & nothing more.

On all my previous travel trailers I used only RV roof cleaners and conditioners. Others say you can use other cleaning agents, but the instruction I received with mine at the time say use RV cleaners. I never deviated, and never had roof or seal or caulking issues.

My current 5er has an Alpha roof. The instructions with it said it's OK to use Spic n Span or any other cleaner. So, really, it depends on the recommendations of your specific camper. If you have that information, use the manufacturer's recommendations. If you don't have that, play it safe and just pick up a bottle of RV roof cleaner and conditioner from any RV parts place.

If you use too harsh a cleaner, over time, it can cause the rubber to deteriorate by stripping out the oils that are there to keep the rubber soft and pliable, not to mention deterioration on your calking and anything rubber the cleaners touch (and what drips down the side of the camper will strip the wax off, making a simple job of cleaning the roof, now a job requiring you to wax the camper again).

Good luck.

The roof is made by Alpha systems. Here is the cleaning instructions from their website. It says to use a regular household cleaner such as dawn dish soap.

After washing with soap and water, I will reseal with self leveling Dicor. Then treat with 303 for UV protection.
