Truck tires - heavy load or regular LT tires?

We need to replace the tires on our tow vehicle.


The OEM tires are LT275/65R18 load index 113/110 (1060kgs).



We are looking at Goodyear Wrangler Trailrunner AT which has a load index of 116 (1250 kg).


Also look at Michelin LTX A/T2 which has a load index of 114 (1184 kgs).


How do I read my door sticker and trailer sticker to find out if the above tires will work, or if I need heavy duty ones?

Here is a load chart. As long as your new tires meet or exceed the load rating on the door placard you should be fine. IMO I would go up from the 113 load rating if the wheel is rated for it.

You're going to have to start thinking LRC. Load indexes on LT & ST tires are for displaying speed rating letters. Any tire in that Designated size with a LRC or above will be an acceptable replacement. Remember, a designated size includes the LT as in LT275/65R18.

Your truck placard is properly displaying the tire information as being LT265/75R18C 113/110S. The "C" is the load range letter and the "S" it the tires speed rating.

Ahh the new rib tires. They came up in the last year or two. I wouldn’t get them in my situation as they wouldn’t have enough ice/Snow traction.

The casing should be the same, and I think Toyo has some of the best casings out there for strength.

The F-450 come with a similar tread pattern, like the over the road semi trucks.

The tires will run smooth and cool, but like semis, carry chains.

That's normally a passenger sized tire. You'll have to go up to a LRE to get it in a LT designated size.
