Just thought I’d start this and see where it goes. Those of us that do or have traveled full time with our RVs, have taken hundreds/thousands of pictures while meandering along the highways and byways of our vast USA.

I’m going to kick this off with a picture of the Penobscot River in my home state, just north of its entrance into the Atlantic Ocean. We were traveling north on US1 near Bucksport, Maine.

The Foxwoods Resort * Casino is located at Mashantucket, CT.

There is a large RV parking area in one of the casino parking lots and they provide free van service to and from the casino. However, when we were last there it was strictly dry camping so we stayed down the road at the Odetah CG at Bozarah, CT.

A lot of our full time traveling was done on rural, state and US highways. For the most part they are not as intensive or nerve racking. For instance; on this trip north from Florida to the Michigan Up State we decided to go right up the middle of Indiana and Michigan.

These pictures were taken on the flat as a flounder, straight as an arrow Indiana highway 3. It's a great rural road with ample pull-offs and great pavement. Traveling along at a comfortable 55 MPH the views can be watched without much interface from traffic. Very relaxing and even found an inland Portland.

Did you also go to Sinks Canyon? It’s fun to see the river disappear underground and come back up a ways down the road, and used to be fun to feed the huge trout that can’t go farther upstream. It’s also outside Lander a little ways. Tent camping in the Shoshone National Forest was a blast in college too, except for the chipmunk who insisted on sitting IN my bag of Doritos and eating them while we set up the tent...

We have always enjoyed traveling the CA costal highways. During off peak times of the year they are easy to travel and very picturesque - any time of year.

Before it was easy to post pictures in RV forums I wrote a lot of blogs. In the beginning I wasn't very good at cataloging them and lost track of some of them. Then I did journals and kept lots of my picture files at storage sites on the internet.

My last three desktop computers have huge picture storage capabilities, even my lap top can store thousands of pictures. So I've gone back into the internet storage places and brought them home, so to speak.

Now we have cell phones with huge picture storage capabilities that generally take quality pictures.

Some day we may be able to look and blink and record that blink. Until that day comes I'll carry a camera or cell phone but probably both. I wish I had started much younger. I missed a good 40 years of pictures.

At least my mom took some. Linda and I have been married 61 years. This is a picture of us three months before we got married.

Jeff, we have 'been there,' but the best I could do is pry the name of the campground out of my wife. We were traveling from Sturgis to Buena Vista, Colorado and we didn't unhook. We stayed at Big Horn Mountains Campground. It was average I guess. I didn't deal with them in the office, but because we were triple-towing they did guide us to our site. It is right outside of town. So technically 'yes,' but in actuality 'no.' Damn, this got to be a long answer...

While wintering at Yuma we decided to make a day trip to Quartzsite for the huge annual RV show. It’s a very easy trip up US-95 and we left early as the dew was lifting out of the mountains along the way. While we were there the unusual winter weather was moving in and by the time we got back to Yuma it was in a down pour.

Seeing is believing, we have been to RV boondocker heaven.

It’s just a short drive to the Lake Mead recreational lands where there is a CG for all types of campers from tents to FHU RV parking.

Well that explains your delivery to me....pretty cool and also I know it wasn’t a great example of films I chose but not a lot to choose from. I have a film in my memory that I can’t quite recall all of the details.

I watched that video and had laugh. Now my parents were no "June and Ward Clever" as my mother didn't own pearls and the only time my dad wore a suite was for a funeral or wedding.

My childhood recollection of long car trips was different that the video ..

1. at least one flat tire or one stop to refill the radiator (and yes, my dad did maintain the car very well).
2. The games played in the back seat were my 2 older sisters tormenting me so I'd yell and conversely get yelled at from the front seat.
3. Typically there was about the same amount of arguing going on up in the front seat as there were in the back seat.
4. The part where mamma was driving at night and get's out of the car to read the sign? Are you kidding? She wasn't getting behind the wheel as long as my father was breathing!
5. Stopping at a gas station was like a NASCAR pit stop. Everybody run to the bathroom and make it back before the old man pumped in 10 gal and he got those S & H green stamps in hand.

I think that family was the same one's from the "Duck and cover" movies. I think the A Bomb movies of the houses blowing up in the AZ desert finally took them out. Thanks for the memories!

I’ve driven by that place a hundred times and never given a second look. Until I got an rv .It really is a nice campground. Love how you have the ocean on one side, the bay and hiking paths on the other.
Nice little restaurant by the marina and just nice watching the boats come in and out of the inlet

What’s nice is there is a state park campground on both sides of the inlet.
You can get to each one by a bike path that goes over the bridge,it’s completely self contained behind a concrete barrier. We like to take a bike ride at night while the bridge is lit up over the inlet.
Makes for a nice end to the day

Nice photos, Tom...

We try to set up camp on Lake Huron just north of Alpena every year for a couple days. If it's a full moon while we're there, the moon rising over the lake is always "spectacular".... Even more so, if there's 4-6 foot waves on the lake.

John, Because of the way East Tawas sits, we can watch the sun rise and set overthe bay.. Confused me until the DW explained it to me a million times, something like North is actually east......LOL :(:banghead:

JRTJH

Tom,

We've lived in this house for almost 12 years now. The front door opens "directly north" and when standing on the front porch, looking out, into the yard, you're facing "due north".... That means (at least to me) that my right side is east and my left side is west. That ONLY leave my butt to be facing south... My DW (bless her heart) has NEVER figured that out. We'll be sitting on the porch, watching birds in the bird bath and she'll make a comment about something "in Gaylord" and point in any direction except west, or she'll talk about the sun rising tomorrow, and point any direction except east.....

I gave up trying to teach her to look at moss on the trees if she's lost in the woods. It's easier to just tie a rope around her waist when we go for walks in the forest than it is to try to find her if she "heads west"....

Yep, she also "almost always" turns the wrong direction to get to the truck when we walk out of WalMart......

Some (many) people designate the front passenger seat as the "navigator"... If I did that, I'd be in New York rather than North Dakota on our trip to the Bad Lands and Yellowstone.....

But, she only packs 4 pairs of shoes for a trip, so she's a "keeper" for sure !!!!

My DW is OK with the compass rose but lousy at map reading. On the first trip together she looked at the map and said "Let's go to XYZ it's just a little ways off the route." I made the turn and after about 1/2 hr I pulled over and looked at the map. I said I thought this was close? Her reply ...."it's only about an inch away on this map". She was looking at a map of the "Eastern United States" and I politely (I'm not STUPID) said honey, look at the scale on the bottom of the map one inch = 100 miles.:banghead:

She packs for a weekend like the first class passengers did on the Titanic. But in twenty days we'll celebrate our 41st. wedding anniversary so I guess I'll try to hold on for the duration.:)

We very seldom make advance reservations. However, on a trip out west we made reservations at the Circus Cricus RV Resort on the Vegas strip. Our friend’s daughter was getting married and a lot of long time friends and their families were going to be there.

We made our reservations while in WY. We then spent a week at Reno and decided to take US-95 south to Vegas. It’s a great highway, but looking like we were on a trip to nowhere. Early in the trip we passed Walker Lake with a smallish recreation area and thought there might be other places like it along the way (a pipe dream). We did find a RV park at Tonopah with tight back-in parking. I didn’t get any pictures because it was dark. We ate at a smallish casino, played a few slots, went to bed and left early.

I had a picture but by the time I got it squeezed down to fit the limits, the view was no good. It was a beautiful day crossing the Mackinac bridge northbound, stopped for construction and it was an actual shot through the windshield.
Someone mentioned Sinks canyon in Wyoming, we were there for our honeymoon in 1978, long trip to Oregon from Indiana in a Datsun pickup.
Someone else had a picture from Wolf creek pass, we've over it twice, substantial snow both times.
